Informational Seminar to Focus on "Buy Local "and "Farm to Table "concepts.We have all heard the phrase “Buy Local”. With increased food safety concerns nationally and internationally, increased fuel prices, and attempts to “Go Green” even with our food purchases, buying local is even more in demand and important than ever. We also know that Niagara County is top rated in quality and diversity of agricultural products.Niagara County Farm Bureau and Niagara USA Chamber are collaborating efforts in an initiative to brand our county agricultural products. The goal is to increase recognition, value, and sale of our products locally, regionally, and nationally. Phase one of this project is to better establish a “farm to table” program to increase sale and usage of our products to the kitchen table, restaurant table, and school lunch table. Many of us already utilize these markets, but the potential is so much more. An informational meeting entitled “Buying Regional Food Products: Connecting Niagara Farmers and Consumers” will be on Thursday May 22, 2008 from 10am – 11:30am, (registration will begin at 9:30am) in the training room at the Niagara County Center for Economic Development, 6311 Inducon Corporate Drive, Sanborn, New York. We have invited a guest speaker, Dave Eson, founder of Isidore Foods. He has established a similar program in Western Pennsylvania.
