Daniel O. Carey Memorial High School Achievement Scholarship
Scholarship Value:
- The GNMA will award a $3,000 scholarships in 2010.
- The scholarship will be paid jointly to the student and the attending college or university.
Scholarship Eligibility:
- Applicant must be a current year, graduating senior from a Niagara County high school.
- Applicant must have intentions to enroll in an advanced academic program for the study of engineering or a manufacturing focused curriculum.
Scholarship Application Requirements:
- Personal resume of academic achievements, interests, extra curricular activities, jobs and career objectives.
- A 300 word essay on college and career aspirations with connection to GNMA scholarship criteria.
- Academic transcript with course listing and grades.
- A minimum of one (1) letter of recommendation from a non-family member.
Scholarship Award Process & Schedule:
- Completed applications submitted to high school guidance office no later than March 31st.
- High school guidance office reviews submitted applications and nominates one (1) applicant from their school for submittal to the GNMA by April 15th.
- The GNMA will review submitted applications and conduct personal interviews with a panel of 5 candidates.
- Final selections completed by May 15th with notification of award recipients.
- Award subject to applicant’s acceptance at college or university and expressed commitment to pursue engineering or a manufacturing based curriculum.
Scholarship certificate and check presented during the annual Chamber of Commerce Small Business reception on May 27, 2010.
